In today’s episode of the weekly feature series, we are going to highlight the “Group Broadcast” functionality of the Citizen’s Patrol app.
As the name suggests, this functionality allows you to broadcast any information to a group. While setting up a group, be as innovative as possible to setup unique group names as there is no check on group name and there is a possibility of duplication due to which other citizens may receive messages not intended for them.
Publicize your group name with citizens, with whom you want to share some information. All users will have to setup their group names exactly as registered. At a given time, a user can subscribe to a maximum of three broadcast list, which they will have to save it in their group options.
This functionality has unlimited uses and can be utilized for communicating within office colleagues, neighborhood watch groups, NGOs, or adhoc groups like weekend picnic group etc.,.
You can broadcast a message to groups as subscribed by you. The maximum message size is 160 characters and the group name size is 60 characters.
At a time, max 500 citizens will receive the message within the same country as yours.
The best part being that no one needs to be an admin to manage the group and everyone is free to join/leave any broadcast group at any time by just adding it or removing it from his/her group settings. They do not need to approach any administrator for that.
Please do remember that messages sent via this functionality are not private as it may be received by unintended users having same group names.
